Based in the French Quarter of New Orleans during the 1940s, this play addresses hard-hitting subjects such as abuse, mental health, complicated family dynamics, addiction, post traumatic stress disorder, lying and more. Know that you will be watching adult content, with a PG-13 rating if on the movie scale.

Passionate Acting
On opening night, the first thing I noticed was the jarring character Stanley. Russell Maxfield does an incredible job of portraying a brash personality. His character clashes with Blanche, played by Wendy Oltmans with unbridled passion.

Real Life on Stage
Everyone can relate to complicated family dynamics, which is the center of this production. The characters pulled at my heartstrings as poor choices were clearly affecting multiple characters.
Another relatable topic, is being in an unhealthy relationship. It is a raw representation of how people stay in relationships they know deep down are negative for them. Stella, played by Amanda Angerbauer, shows how blind love masks imperfections.

Intensity
In this drama, there are many moments of shock. The acting was so well done, from the main characters to assisting roles that brought it to life. I felt invested in the lives of the characters.
My favorite character was Mitch, played by Brandon Green. He brought in some innocence and humor that’s needed during the intensity of the story. Thanks to Brandon for making the entire audience laugh!

I think everyone in the audience would agree that the tension in the air was thick, for the majority of the performance. The drama is in your face, close-up and personal in the intimate black box theatre – Leishman Performance Hall.
