On Monday, May 31, 2021, the United States will recognize Memorial Day to honor those who have served and sacrificed. This federal holiday is observed yearly on the last Monday in May. There are countless veterans memorials throughout Davis County. Here are some ways Utahns can pay tribute this Memorial Day.
Bountiful Veterans Memorial Park

Join Bountiful City in honoring veterans on Memorial Day at the Bountiful Veterans Park. This beautiful new memorial was dedicated on Veterans Day 2020. The Memorial Day program will include the unveiling of two new Veteran Honor Walls and three new monuments. Seating is limited, lawn chairs are recommended.

Layton Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall
Details
Layton’s 80% scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall is a powerful testament to the 58,317 men and women lost to the Vietnam War, including 366 service members from Utah and six from Layton. All names are on the same panel and location as the original Wall in D.C. Eight benches around the walkway are dedicated to the eight women who lost their lives in Vietnam.
Where: 508 Constitution Circle, Layton (located on the north end of the Layton Commons Park)
Vietnam Combat War Dog Monument
This newly dedicated monument honors U.S. military service dogs that never returned after serving in war. The statue sits about 20 yards from the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Layton.
Military Memorial on Antelope Island
On Oct. 29, 1992, five Army Rangers and seven Air Force Special Operations airmen crashed off the northern tip of Antelope Island while on a training mission. A 7-foot granite memorial near the end of the Antelope Island Causeway commemorates their sacrifice.
Flag Rock, Farmington
The Flag Rock Trail honors the emergency personnel, Pentagon service members, and civilians who perished in the attacks of September 11, 2001. An American flag is visible on the hillside east of Farmington from all across the city.
Davis County Veterans Memorial, Farmington
Housed in the Davis County Memorial Courthouse in Farmington under the famous stained glass window, this plaque memorializes veterans from the Civil War, the Black Hawk Indian Troubles, the Spanish American War and Philippine Insurrection, and World War I. The stained glass depicts a victorious angel heralding the efforts of a sailor and soldier with the inscription “They who sacrifice most live longest in the hearts of the people.” The courthouse is currently undergoing renovations but is worth noting for a future visit.
Hill Aerospace Museum
A visit to the Hill Aerospace Museum is a wonderful way to honor U.S. service members and learn about military history. Over 90 military aircraft, missiles and aerospace vehicles are on display inside, as well as outdoors on the museum grounds. Hill Aerospace Museum is located on the northwest corner of Hill Air Force Base.

Civil War Cannon, Farmington
