by admindhnqkf35

Welcome to our first theatre review! There is a plethora of performing arts to experience in Davis County, Utah. Reviews like this will give you the opportunity to take a sneak peek into local productions.

Now playing at CenterPoint Legacy Theatre is Disney & Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins showing February 24th through March 25th. This show puts you in a world of magic and imagination. It is a great show for the whole family. As Director Danny Inkley said, “It’s about two kids learning how to play again, a mom learning how to be true to herself, and a dad learning how to love.”

This version is not identical to the movie, don’t expect that going in. However, it does capture the same theme of family and beautifully showcases vibrant songs like, ‘Spoonful of Sugar’, ‘Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious’, ‘Chim Chiminey’, and more. Derek Myler, Music Director, did a wonderful job of choosing actors and actresses with fabulous voices, sure to amaze you.

The stage set and brand new lighting technology have a magical way of putting you right in the middle of London, on rooftops and inside colorful chalk drawings.

The characters quickly envelop you. Bert, the chimney sweeper, and neighborhood friend, encourages you to have an open heart and mind. Mary Poppins, the ‘practically perfect’ nanny takes you on adventures and warms your soul. It’s a joy to see the troubled kids, Jane and Michael, experience a world full of adventure and life lessons. The parents, Mr. and Mrs. Banks, go through life lessons as well, viewers can’t help empathizing.

The show’s choreography, by Addison Welch, is so entertaining to watch… From bright dresses twirling in the park to the stomping of chimney sweepers on rooftops.

Mary Poppins is a delight to see at CenterPoint Legacy Theatre. You will leave believing, ‘Anything Can Happen If You Let It.’

CenterPoint’s legacy began with the arrival of the first pioneers in the Davis County area and continued through the creation of Ralph Rodger’s Pages Lane Theater founded in 1990 and Davis County Performing Arts Corporation with its inception in 1996. With the success of the small Rodgers Memorial venue and the support of our South Davis County community, a case was made for a regional performing arts center, which resulted in the current CenterPoint Legacy Theatre.
