Holiday festivities are over and we’re headed into a new year. Looking for January 2021 things to do? Here’s what’s happening in Davis, to help you get your year off to a great start!  

Celebrate Utah’s Statehood on January 4th

Thrive 125 Utah's Statehood Anniversary Fireworks will light the skies above 29 counties as we celebrate the 125th anniversary of Utah’s statehood. The mini fireworks shows* will happen statewide at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 4, 2021, following a 30-minute TV special (airing at 6:30 p.m.) featuring performances from some of Utah’s most notable musicians, dancers and others. Learn more about the Utah statehood celebration. *Please note that the fireworks show at the Legacy Events Center in Farmington will last just three to five minutes, and allow only for public viewing from cars or your own front yard and with proper social distancing.

Bald Eagle sightings are more common in Utah during winter, and Farmington Bay is one of the best places for viewing these majestic creatures. One popular birding spot for viewing Bald Eagles is the George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Wildlife Education Center. The center is currently open Tuesday through Friday (click here for hours of operation) and the nature trail is always available for hiking.  P.S. Hike, Bike & Explore the Trails

The diversity of trails in Davis, including those on Antelope Island, is unmatched. There are over 500 miles of trails ranging from paved and natural surfaces, mountain and shore trails, to accommodate a wide range of users from mountain bikers and runners to walkers and strollers. Many trails even feature views of the world-famous Great Salt Lake, or have access to the popular D&RG Rail Trail and the Legacy Parkway Trail. With nine world-class ski resorts located within one hour, Davis is the perfect base camp for your winter ski staycation. Skiers and snowboarders can even catch a ride to Snowbasin Resort on the UTA Route 677 at the Layton FrontRunner Station for a convenient lift to the slopes without having to make the drive. BDAC Wildfires Exhibit by Alexandra Karl When chilly days have you craving indoors, stop by the Bountiful Davis Art Center for some art and culture. Upcoming exhibits include Wildfires inUtah Art, Homes and Lands, on view from January 9 through February 20. BDAC is dedicated to deepening and enhancing the experience of the arts for people of all ages through exhibits and online or in-person classes.

Holiday Snowman Scavenger Hunt

Snowman Scavenger Hunt at Station Park Fifteen snowman window clings are hiding throughout Station Park. Pick up your snowman scavenger hunt cards at Concierge Services, then put your detective skills to work. Return your completed cards by January 31 to receive a winter treat provided by Rhodes Physical Therapy.
