Spring fun is in full swing this month! From events like the Great Salt Lake Bird Festival, Splash-n-Sprint Triathlon, NSL Kite Festival and Simple Treasures Mother’s Day Boutique to theatre performances, live music at Station Park, and family fun at Boondocks, Discover Davis has the May 2021 events and things to do you’ve been waiting for!

Great Salt Lake Bird Festival

Workshops and Field Trips

The 23rd annual Great Salt Lake Bird Festival is a four-day event hosted by Discover Davis and is the premier bird festival in Northern Utah. Located on the edge of Great Salt Lake, here you’ll discover a birder’s paradise at one of the greatest natural locations in Utah. Event headquarters will be the Eccles Wildlife Education Center at Farmington Bay Waterfowl Management Area. Family Day at the Great Salt Lake Bird Festival

Enjoy arts and crafts, a nature scavenger hunt, and fun workshops to learn about all things birds! Family Day will be held at the Eccles Wildlife Center from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 15, 2021. Registration is required for all participants age 2 and older and is FREE. Face masks are required to participate. Activities will be limited to small group sizes to allow for social distancing.

The Music Man presented by CenterPoint Legacy Theatre

CenterPoint  has done it again with this charming blast from the past, chock-full of memorable songs, hilarious and charming characters, and a story for the ages. The Music Man runs April 16-May 15, followed by a full season lineup including Disney’s Newsies, Sister Act, The Scarlet Pimpernel and A Christmas Story. Please note: CenterPoint Legacy Theatre is no longer socially distancing seating but masks are still mandatory. Visit their website for additional safety measures.

Benedick and Beatrice are tricked into confessing their love for each other, and Claudio is tricked into rejecting Hero at the altar on the erroneous belief that she has been unfaithful. At the end, Benedick and Beatrice join forces to set things right, and the others join in a dance celebrating the marriages of the two couples.

NSL Kite Festival

The annual NSL Kite Festival takes place May 8 at Tunnel Springs Park. Join the fun with music, food trucks, a kids parade and cake walk – and of course, kites. A limited number of free kites will be available for kids to decorate and fly, so come early.

Swim, bike and run at the 2021 Splash-n-Sprint Triathlon presented by South Davis Races. Options for all levels of runners include novice, sprint and relay distances. Learn more.

May the Fourth Race Half Marathon – Virtual

This fun Star Wars-themed virtual race is typically held in person, beginning at the Legacy Events “Space” Center and raced along the Legacy Parkway Trail System. This year, the virtual half marathon can be run anytime from May 1-30. Virtual races are designed to be run in small groups with friends and family, so sign up and enjoy the fun. Learn more

Memorial Day Program

Bountiful Veterans Park

Join Bountiful Veterans Park on Memorial Day in honor of those who have served and sacrificed. There will be a short program including patriotic music, entertainment, the unveiling of two new Veteran Honor Walls and three new monuments. Seating is limited, lawn chairs are recommended.
