June 2021 Events and Things to Do in Davis

Summer has arrived in Davis! School is out and we are bursting at the seams with fun and affordable things to do. Long-time Davis favorites like Bountiful Davis Arts Center’s Summerfest, Antelope by Moonlight Bike Ride, and Davis Arts Council’s Summer Nights Concert Series are back for 2021. Bring your family and friends and kick off summer with a plethora of free or low-cost summertime events.

2021 Summerfest | Conversations in Culture
Presented by Bountiful Davis Arts Center, experience folk tales, music, dance, recipes, and discussions from individuals from countries worldwide. This 30+ year tradition is produced by every year by BDAC. Join us every Monday in June for Summerfest includes performers, artists, and food. Learn more.

Chalk Art Festival

If you’re a first year attendee or artist, the Bountiful Chalk Art Festival is a fun, family-friendly, community event. Think gallery stroll, but with chalk, sidewalks, families, and laughter. This year we’ll also be combining the downtown excitement with Bountiful’s ongoing events at the new Bountiful Plaza. Learn more.

Layton Centennial Birthday Party Under the Stars

Antelope by Moonlight Bike Ride

Ride across the majestic Antelope Island State Park at night by glow of the bright summer full moon. This family-friendly, non-competitive bike ride starts at 10 pm (check-in beginning at 7:30 pm) and will take you from White Rock Bay to the historic Fielding Garr Ranch and back. Davis Arts Council Free Friday Film Festival

The Free Friday Film Series, presented by Davis Arts Council, occurs every Friday night from June through August. Bring your friends and family to The Kenley Amphitheater in Layton at 6:30 PM for a pre-movie activity and then enjoy the movie starting at 7:30 PM. Movies will play until approximately 9:00 PM.

Free Sunday Night Concert: Mimi Valentine & The Gentlemen’s Club

Presented by Davis Arts Council at Kenley Amphitheater. This Jazz-age cover band puts a Speakeasy spin on modern dance hits, playing popular radio songs with their own signature vintage sound. Think Britney Spears done in a Cab Calloway style, T-Swift to the tune of vintage cabaret, along with Radiohead, Madonna, and more. Learn more.
High School Musical Jr. Presented by On Pitch Performing Arts

It’s the first day after winter break at East High. The Jocks, Brainiacs, Thespians, and Skater Dudes all find their cliques. Basketball team captain and resident jock, Troy, discovers that the brainy Gabriella, a girl he met singing karaoke on his ski trip, has just enrolled at East High. The couple causes an upheaval when they decide to audition for the high school musical. Although many students resent the threat posed to the “status quo,” Troy and Gabriella’s alliance might just open the door for others to shine as well.

Free Sunday Night Concert: Ché Zuro

Presented by Davis Arts Council at Kenley Amphitheater. Ché Zuro mixes Beatle-ina pop with the acoustic grit of Led Zeppelin, mixing rock with folk, pop with country, shaking up a sound all of her own. Ché’s work as a songwriter, alone and with writing partner Tisa Adamson, has received accolades in both the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and the Billboard Songwriting Contest. Learn more.
Summer Nights with the Stars: The Everly Set

Presented by Davis Arts Council at Kenley Amphitheater. You’ll be singing “By Bye Love” and Wake Up Little Suzy” at our Summer Nights with the Stars season opener with The Everly Set! Sean Altman & Jack Skuller celebrate The Everly Brothers who unleashed the sparkling vocal harmonies which influenced The Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, and The Beach Boys, just to name a few!
Big Fish the Musical Presented by Syracuse City Arts Council

Newsies Presented by CenterPoint Legacy Theatre

It’s no wonder this musical took home the Tony Award for Best Music and Best Choreography as it is filled with brilliant songs and newsboys dancing up a storm. Disney’s Newsies is based on the true story of the famed News Boys strike of 1899, it is both extraordinary and endearing and will most definitely have you singing along and cheering for these charming underdogs. Free Sunday Night Concert: Jupiter

Presented by Davis Arts Council at Kenley Amphitheater. Jupiter began as a songwriting exercise that blended introspective lyrics, popular song structures, and electronic rhythms and styles. The current line-up consists of Kelli Jo singing lead vocals, Nichelle and Lindsay singing backup, Jenn playing guitar, Jesse on electric cello, and KJ on keyboards. Learn more.
Summer Nights with the Stars: Asia featuring John Payne

Presented by Davis Arts Council at Kenley Amphitheater. John Payne became the frontman of the supergroup ASIA in 1992! With hits like “Heat of the Moment,” “Don’t Cry,” and “Only Time Will Tell,” ASIA is one of the most recognizable rock groups of the 80s. This influential British rock group will appear at The Kenley for the very first time! Come and rock out with us!
Free Sunday Night Concert: The RaVens

Presented by Davis Arts Council at Kenley Amphitheater. The RaVens Band originated on the Wasatch Front in 2017. We are a variety band, playing the songs we loved when we were big kids, including tunes spanning 6 decades. Lee, Lezlee, and Greg are all accomplished songwriters and will share three songs of original material. Learn more.
Summer Nights with the Stars: GENTRI

Presented by Davis Arts Council at Kenley Amphitheater. GENTRI is back at The Kenley Amphitheater! The fan-favorite trio of gents, along with their talented accompanist and signature “Cinematic Pop” sound, will grace our stage once again. Do not miss these three tenors cover the classics you know and love, as well as perform some of their original hits.

Fairy Garden Workshop- Ages 5-12

Children will make a garden with rocks, colored sand twigs, pom poms, figurines and other found magical items to create their own unique garden. It will be in a portable pot that will include dirt and be ready for planting so kids can take it home and enjoy it all summer. Learn more.

Comics I & Comics II with Chris Bodily-Ages 11+

Talking Cats, Zombies, Super Villains, and Killer Robots! Learn the art of cartoon drawing with illustration master Chris Bodily. Bodily will walk students step-by-step through the fundamentals of drawing including shape, line, perspective, proportion, expression, and construction. Create characters and worlds for your own cartoons, comics, and children’s books.
For students that have a good grasp on the fundamentals of illustration, Comics II will help elevate your graphic narratives from good to great. Explore the principles of value, composition, and visual storytelling. Learn more.
