Summer may be winding down, but there is still plenty of fun to be had and things to do before school starts up again.

Drawing from a wellspring of country and back alley rock-and-roll, Feed The Kitty cultivates a bounty of neo-retro Southern California sounds; rich in singer-songwriter tradition, modest lament, and polished musicianship.  Girded by the ever-accumulating experience of thousands of live performances, the formidable trio of Jack Maher Jr. (vocals and guitar), Jed Mottley (bass), and Jon Shumway (drums) continues to extend their reputation for magnetic concert appearances, empowered with an encyclopedic knowledge of music and genuine self-effacing humor.  While these hallmarks still provide a foundational element for the band’s fourth studio set, Ain’t Dead Yet, more prevalent this time around, though, is a matured, reflective approach; introspective, and even, at times, haunting.

August 1: Katie Sullivan

Katie Sullivan is a “crossover” soprano, finding equal homes in musical theater, jazz, and classical song repertoire. A few credits include Hanna Glawari (The Merry Widow), Miss Dorothy (Thoroughly Modern Millie), The Beggar Woman (Sweeney Todd), and Elle in “La Voix Humaine”, a one-woman opera by French composer Francis Poulenc. An accomplished pianist, Katie is comfortable both on stage as well as in the orchestra pit. Katie has musically directed a respectable number of musicals, some including Godspell, Guys & Dolls, Parade: The Musical, Thoroughly Modern Millie, and more.

Katie holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Vocal Performance and pursued post-graduate studies in Vocal Performance & Pedagogy Katie is a voice teacher and avid performer in the Salt Lake area.

August 8: Sarah Woodbury Trio

Sarah Ann Woodbury grew up surrounded by music, which gave her exposure to artists of all kinds throughout her early years and sparked the style and nuance that are so markedly her. Sarah has been involved in many types of art and performance, with a focus on jazz music, ballet, and poetry. With a rich voice and elegant style, she has performed at events ranging from the Utah Museum of Fine Arts’ opening to countless weddings and events. John Flanders, one of Utah’s premier jazz musicians says of her, “Sarah has a relaxed and pleasing vocal jazz style that doesn’t sound forced and comes with some tasty scatting as well. Think Norah Jones meets Diana Krall over standards.”

Bass player and vocalist Jim Schaub has taught music students and performed across the West for many years.  He is a multi-instrumentalist with skills on guitar, piano, bagpipes, trumpet, and tuba to name a few.  Jim enjoys arranging and writing songs and has a creative approach to recasting popular music with a jazzy, lounge flavor.

Pianist Don Woodbury has been involved in piano and mobile DJ work for many years and has received WeddingWire’s Couples’ Choice awards for two years in a row.  He has played in various configurations such as solo piano, smaller ensembles, and big bands.  He has extensive experience in jazz, blues, funk, and reggae.

August 15: Emily Bea

Emily Bea is a Utah-based singer-songwriter. With a similar sound to Norah Jones and Ingrid Michaelson her soothing vocals, catchy melodies, and personal songwriting capture the attention and love of her audience. August 22: The WYLD

The Wyld is a Park City based band that was founded several years ago. The band has performed throughout Utah, playing a variety of cover music, with an original sound and interpretation. The band has written and recorded many of their own songs, and have released their debut album. The CD will be available at all shows, and on Apple Music, iTunes, Spotify, and Amazon Music. The Wyld looks forward to playing songs from their debut Album Release while including some recognizable cover songs, with a soulful sound.

August 29: The Gabe Redondo Trio

Performing timeless tunes from the American Songbook, this entertaining ensemble has a repertoire that includes all the familiar favorites from Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin, and Dean Martin, as well as contemporary crooners, Michael Bublé, Robbie Williams, and Harry Connick Jr.  Featuring versatile and charismatic vocalist, Gabe Redondo at the helm, the trio promises high-style and showmanship combined with superior immortal sound. It’s the Great Depression and most folks have gotten used to doing without, but when a summer drought hits harder than usual, it’s almost more than anyone can bear; including the spinster farmer’s daughter, Lizzie Curry.  When Starbuck, a seasoned con man, enters the small town and promises rain in exchange for a hefty sum of money it starts a chain reaction that even Lizzie herself isn’t prepared for and has audiences examining the human experience.

Beautifully Directed by Hugh Hanson, this amazing cast brings to life this stunning piece of American literature in such a charming and unique way.

When an irreverent lounge singer witnesses a murder, she finds refuge in the last place anyone would look for her, a convent!  Sister Act is a hilarious and boisterous comedy and delightful addition to CenterPoint Legacy Theatre’s repertoire.

Deloris thinks she has it all, a singing career and a doting boyfriend who has promised her fame.  But when she witnesses her boyfriend kill someone and has to go into the Witness Protection Program in a convent, she thinks she has literally died and gone to Hell.  Instead, the precocious singer is determined to live life her way; despite the restrictions put on her by the Reverend Mother.  Laugh and sing along as Deloris finds that she needs these earthly angels as much as they need her in Sister Act!

Directed by Danny Inkley, Musically Directed by David Martin, Choreographed by Addison Welch and perfectly portrayed by two talented casts, Sister Act is the best kind of theater – it makes you laugh, sing, and even cry.
